Real-Time Upcoming Classes
Through surveys with students on Fluency’s conversation platform, we identified that approximately 75% preferred to book lessons on the same day or, at most, one day in advance. This difficulty in predicting future availability created friction in the booking journey, leading to low utilization of purchased credits and reducing the likelihood of consistent practice. To address this, we designed a feature that shows real-time available classes, allowing students to join immediately without the need to book in advance.
Results
After the implementation, 25% of students started using the feature, driving a 14% increase in the monthly credit utilization rate among group lesson students. These results indicate strong potential to improve average class occupancy and encourage more spontaneous language practice during free moments in students’ routines.
What We Did
To reduce search time and increase attendance, we developed a section called “Upcoming Classes,” which displays the next three group sessions with open slots in real time. This allows students to see available options and join immediately without the need for prior booking. We also tested urgency badges, such as “Only 2 spots left,” to understand whether this prompt would influence decisions to join.
